Almond Butter

It used to be that only my sister did weird food experiments, but now my diet and pinterest have me doing it too.  I've made almond butter a few days ago, since I love natural almond butter and it is so expensive.

Soak a cup of almonds in spring or bottled water for about 6 to hours if you do it longer it will begin to lose its flavor, which mine did, but my mother doesn't seem to mind and my jar is a quarter down already.

Blend your almonds in a food processor and add a pinch of salt and a tablespoon of olive oil.  Put your finished product in a class jar with a tight lid and refrigerate.

I would skip soaking, but you want to work smarter not harder and if you don't soak them at all it takes a lot longer to blend in the food processor and you run the risk of blowing out your motor if you make it a lot.

Mock Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Last night I decided to finally try my hand at making mashed potatoes out of cauliflower. Before making this dish my mother told me never to call mashed cauliflower potatoes because it gave her cravings that cauliflower could never live up too. By the end of the night she had changed her tune and I am now allowed to call them Mock Garlic Mashed Potatoes.

What you will need, a food processor, a small cauliflower, fresh garlic, chives or onions, butter or smart balance, Greek yogurt, salt and pepper.

Steam your cauliflower, use only the bushy tops.  You can cook them in the oven wrapped in foil on the stove or even in the microwave as I did.  Add the steamed cauliflower in the food processor, blend it and then add half a cup plain Greek yogurt, one clove garlic, chives or onions, a tablespoon of smart balance or butter, pepper and salt to taste.

These Mock Garlic Mashed Potatoes will be spicy and a little hot, but will as my mother put weirdly taste like potatoes.

How Easy is Easy as Pie?
People say easy as pie all the time, but does that statement hold water? Normally I would say no, because unless you are cooking a pre-made pie, making a pie takes a lot of time. I have some of the easiest pudding pie recipes ever created. This pie is a favorite of a boy who went to my church, he made it to donate it to the baking auction that was benefiting his troop. He outbid me, because he could not let his easy Chocolate pudding pie go.

Disclaimer, this is not a vegan recipe, but I'm sure with a few alterations it could become one.

Chocolate Pudding pie

There’s no real prep time. You can use any type of pudding or crust you like. Serves: 4 -6 Prep Time: none Total Time: 5 to 15 minutes

Ingredients 4 - 6 Pudding Cups or Homemade Pudding Chocolate Pudding Crust

Instructions
Open packages of pudding cups and scoop them into the pie crust, chill.



Pumpkin Pie Filling

You can make any pie filling you like using pudding, this recipe calls for pumpkin pudding from the jello company, but they make many other flavors.

There are dozens and dozens of puddings on the market and with that you can make any type of pie you like even Strawberry cream and custard pies. You can also make some sugar and fat free pudding pies.

Easy Christmas Recipes

Recently I went on a trip to Amish country looking for new and interesting recipes for Christmastime with my family. I found a few recipes that are delicious and very easy. One of these recipes only has two simple ingredients that many of you may already have in your homes.

Christmas chocolate dip

Ingredients Can of whip cream Favorite hot chocolate mix

Instructions
Mix whipped cream with your favorite hot chocolate or cappuccino mix. I like French vanilla. Serve with cinnamon and sugar or ginger cookie chips for an added Christmas feel.

Strawberry Pudding Pie I make this with instant strawberry pudding. 

Ingredients  1 cup skim milk  1/2 cup instant vanilla  9-inch graham cracker pie crust  2 pints of fresh strawberries Instructions In a mixing bowl, whisk together the milku and pudding mix for 2 minutes. Chill for half an hour and then spread it evenly into the pie crust. Arrange the stemmed strawberries flat side down on the pie. Crust Pie crust is key in making a good pie.

Dessert on a Diet

Yummy and Healthy

Dessert eating on a diet can be very hard, when your family and friends are snacking on cookies and ice cream, what are you going to be able to eat? If you don't eat meat you can't even eat sugar free jello or marshmellows, they're both made with the ground up bones of animals, really.

I'm not a vegan so it's easier for me to make healthy desserts, but while making your desserts you can exchange some animal based products for others.

My mother and I use amond milk instead of cows milk, because we are slightly allergic and it makes us itch. Applesause can be used instead of butter and my sister uses a can of diet soda instead of butter or oil.

I love cannied carrots, but I don't know how good they are fo you.



Apple Slices

Apple slices are great for you and if you are making a dessert that calls for them this product could make cooking healthy go much quicker and smoother.



Fruits are Sweet



I like green apples sliced cooked over a stove with cinnamon and sugar, it’s like eating an apple pie without the crust and extra calories.

I love stawberries, plan and if they are perfectly ripe I don’t even add sugar. Frozen grapes are also a great healthy sweet snack.

You can also use unsweetened Amound milk and blend them with your favorite chopped fruits and put the mixure into old fashioned ice trays, with tooth picks in them, freeze it and have an extremely frozen treat.

Whoa! I didn't know that sugar free jello and marshmallows are made with ground animal bones...that just sounds crazy! I don't need to diet and don't have much of a sweet tooth but you have some good ideas. I can see how apple sauce could be a nice and flavorful substitute for butter.

Mexican Stew



Would you like to make yourself an extremely healthy snack or even dinner in less than five minutes or make your entire family the same dinner in less than ten minutes for ten dollars or less? If you said yes, than I have the recipe for you, made only with a few cans of beans and other ingredients you probably have in your kitchen cabinet.


I make this for myself and it takes less than five minutes on the stove, but it might take slightly more time if you are making a lot. Ingredients Two cans of Black Beans.  One can of refried beans. Two cans of Creamed Corn.  Two tablespoons of Chili Powder ot two taste.  A pinch of Pepper Instructions

1.  Rinse the Black Beans from the can, this will cut the salt by up to a 3rd. Pour beans in a huge pot with the other ingredients and heat on meduim heat until warm or hot while mixing it. 2. If you are not a vegan you can add a half cup of low fat sour cream and shredded cheese on top and serve with Tortilla Chips. 3. Please remember not to eat too much if you only have one bathroom in the house, because this is extremely high in fiber.

Popcorn is fun and healthy again Being on a diet doesn't have to feel like an uphill climb anymore, simple swaps can make your movie night a healthy night. Popcorn fills you up unlike any other healthy fiber filled food. I've read many sites about the benefits of popcorn eating vs other unnatural snacks like chips and candy. Popcorn is only 25 to 31 calories per a cup serving. Most of these sites tell you not to use salt or butter on your popcorn and though butter is out, you don't have to eat dry, boring lifeless popcorn to be healthy. You can eat the awesome tasting popcorn of the paste and be healthier in the future with some simple tips. The Magic Oil You can think back to your childhood and remember how good theater popcorn tasted even without butter and that is because of the oil it was cooked in and you can have that same great taste at home. Coconut Oil was bashed by science dudes who didn't do any research just because it was a fatty oil and according to many websites was spear headed by the ASA which is the American Soybean Association. There's no need to harm an animal to have great food, because Veggie food doesn't have to be boring, you can spice up your life and your food with Mexican spices and some good and easy recipes. Tacos are fun and can be healthy depending on how you make them. Seasoning is the key to the perfect Taco with or without meat. Half pound ground soy fake meat or Tofu. One and a half tablespoons corn flour (regular will work). One half tablespoon of chili powder. A pinch of garlic powder. One half teaspoon instand red minced onion flakes. Half teaspoon paprika. Half teaspoon sea salt. Fourth teaspoon cumin. Fourth teaspoon sugar. If you like meat you have add a Half teaspoon beef bouillon. The Instructions are. Mix together, and heat on a stove on medium heat. No animals were harmed in the making of these tacos. Ingredients are. Half pound ground soy fake meat or Tofu. One and a half tablespoons corn flour (regular will work). One half tablespoon of chili powder. A pinch of garlic powder. One half teaspoon instand red minced onion flakes. Half teaspoon paprika. Half teaspoon sea salt. Fourth teaspoon cumin. Fourth teaspoon sugar. Half teaspoon beef bouillon if not making vegetarian. Instructions are. Mix together, and heat on a stove on medium heat. I'm not a vegetarian, but I don't eat very much meat at all and eat lots of soy chicken patties.
